Credit Union values the trust you place in us to protect your personal financial
information. We are proud to share this policy we have established to protect
you and your privacy.
This disclosure covers non-public personal information that we obtain in the
course of providing products and services to you. It does not cover information
that is actually obtained from public sources, such as telephone directories
or county property records.
We are committed to providing you with competitive products and services to meet your financial needs, which necessitates that we share information about you for the following reasons:
To complete
the transactions you authorize in a timely manner.
To conduct the operations of the Credit Union with efficiency and security.
To maintain safeguards which will protect you against unauthorized criminal
access to your information.
To use information responsibly in order to provide you with convenient financial
services.
In order to do so, the Credit Union may share information about you with other
companies that provide services on our behalf or with financial institutions
with whom we have joint marketing agreements to provide financial products
or services. Under these arrangements, the Credit Union may disclose all of
the information collected, as described below. To protect our members' privacy,
we only work with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality
protections and limit the use of information we provide. We do not permit
these companies to sell, trade, or give the information we provide to third
parties.
Information
we collect and disclose about you
The Credit Union collects non-public personal information about you from a
variety of sources. Information collected includes the following:
From
membership applications, loan applications and other forms, we obtain information
such as name, address, social security number, and income.
From your transactions with us or other financial institutions that either
provide products or services to you on our behalf or with whom we have joint
marketing agreements, we obtain information such as your account balances,
payment history, parties to transactions, and your use of your ATM card, debit
card and credit card.
From consumer reporting agencies, we obtain information such as your creditworthiness
and credit history.
From verification of information you provide on applications and other forms,
we obtain information from current or past employers, other financial institutions,
and other sources listed on the application.
From marketing analysis companies for marketing purposes, we obtain information
such as economic and demographic data.
We may also disclose information we collect about you under circumstances
as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information
to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our credit
union, follow your instructions as you authorize, or protect the security
of our financial records. We comply with lawfully issued information requests,
such as subpoenas, levies, and child support data matching programs. We can
report our credit and account experience with you to consumer reporting agencies.
If you terminate your membership with the Credit Union, we will not share information about you except as permitted or required by law.
How we
protect your information
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees
who have a specific business purpose in utilizing your data. Our employees
are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy.
We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with
federal regulations and leading industry practices to safeguard your non-public
personal information.
Opt Out
Notice
With passage of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act,
financial institutions that engage in certain practices must provide opt out
notices to their account holders. This was put in place to protect you from
activities that include the selling of your personal information. Because
we do not participate in those types of practices, opt out notices are not
applicable. The option to opt out does not apply because the companies that
perform services are doing so on our behalf. We only work with companies that
agree to maintain strong confidentiality. We do not permit these companies
to sell your information to third parties or use the information for any purpose
other than intended.
Changes
to this policy
We will give you any notice required by law if we change this policy.
Galleria Credit Union is owned by its members and governed by a Board of Directors
that you elect. You can be confident that your financial privacy is a top

personal financial information. If you have any questions, please contact

Identity
Verification Notice
On October 26, 2001, the USA Patriot Act was signed in to law. The purpose
of this law is to help protect you, your family and our country from terrorism
by preventing terrorist financing. We want you to know that section 326 of
this Act requires our credit union to verify the identity of all new credit
union members. We must also verify the identity of members and nonmembers
added as signatories to and have access to new or existing deposit accounts
and loans. We must also retain copies of documents used to verify your identity.
If you are an existing member who joined the credit union before the USA Patriot Act rules became effective we may also need to verify and retain copies of any documents used to verify your identity when you request a new deposit account, apply for a loan or are added as a signatory to a new or existing deposit or loan account.
We ask for your understanding as we work to support these efforts to maintain the security of your funds and our country. Please speak with a credit union staff member if you have any questions or concerns about our identification policies.
